Bike Tuesday and you'll be in good company 

Join bike commuters new and old in making a statement about the importance of supporting the two wheeled way for Bike to Work Day, Tuesday, May 20, 2008*. The event is part of Bike Week, May 19-23, during which TARTA will offer 25 cent bus fare to anyone using its bike racks. Bike to Work Day is moving proof that bicycling is a viable form of transportation. Cyclists participating in an organized ride on Bike to Work Day is sponsored by TMACOG, TARTA, the Maumee Valley Alternative Transportation Alliance, and the Bike Route, with additional support from Owens Corning.  Find out more about Bike to Work Day>>

Splash into summer!
Join us for YMCA/JCC Splash, our free, week-long water safety and basic swimming skills program designed especially for beginner swimmers.

Splash 2008 will be held June 16 - 20 at nine area locations.

The annual program includes water safety, basic swimming instruction, character development activities, parent information, and a special family picnic and swim party to celebrate the completion of the course.

Free Summer  Camp  

 


for Military Kids
  

YMCA Storer Camps was chosen by the National Military Family Association to host Operation Purple Camp, a free summer camp for military children with parents who have been, are currently or will be deployed. Storer Camps will host three weeks of camps exclusively for Operation Purple campers this summer: June 15 - 21 (3rd - 8th grade girls and boys), July 27 - August 2, and August 2 - August 9 (7th - 10th grade girls and boys).

Registration for Operation Purple Camp begins March 24, 2008. Space is limited and applications will only be accepted online. For more information or to register, visit http://www.operationpurple.org/.

Leo Leaders
LEO LEADERS -  MAY ACTIVITIES CALENDAR 
Leo Leaders is a leadership club for 7-12 graders. This club partners with the Lions club of Bedford. Teens will learn leadership and service skills that will help them develop into the leaders of tomorrow. We meet weekly for specific events and meetings! Whiteford Adult Fitness:
The YMCA is excited to offer an adult fitness class at St. Michael Lutheran Church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. and on Thursday morning  from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.  The program welcomes any adult who is looking for a  beginning fitness program. A $2 donation per class is suggested.  For additional information, please call either St. Michael Lutheran Church at 734-856-2944 or the Francis Family YMCA at 734-847-2417.

Silver Sneakers ® Fitness Program
The Silver Sneakers ® Fitness Program is a national exercise program designed exclusively for older adults and offered to Medicare-eligible members. YMCA/JCC offers the SilverSneakers ® Fitness program to eligible members of Anthem BCBS and Humana health plans. For eligibility, contact your insurance provider.
