YMCA /JCC Early Education, Care and Afterschool Programs At the YMCA and JCC, families tell us what's important for their kids - and we listen. They want quality, safe and affordable care; flexible hours; educational activities; convenient locations close to home; and they want their children to have a good time. The YMCA/JCC early education and afterschool adventure programs offer all of this and more for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
YMCA/JCC TO PROVIDE FREE MEMBERSHIPS TO ELIGIBLE MILITARY FAMILIES As part of the new Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Outreach Initiative, the YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo will provide military families with access to youth development, family strengthening, and health and well-being programs at community YMCAs nationwide.Membership fees will be underwritten by the DoD and administered through Military OneSource, an information and referral service for military families.
Free Respite Child Care for Military Families In a continued effort to meet the growing needs of military service members, the YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo will provide respite child care services to deployed National Guard/Reservists and select military personnel. Underwritten by the Department of Defense (DoD), respite child care services are designed to provide licensed child care for children of deployed military personnel. More>>

JCC/YMCA Sekach Child Care Center Recognized with Two Stars The JCC/YMCA Sekach Child Care Center recently earned the Step up to Quality Two Star designation from the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. This important recognition means the center incorporates Ohio standards and guidelines in their planning, they complete yearly specialized training, a low ratio of staff to children is maintained; the staff are provided employee benefits and support; and the administrators and lead teachers are degreed in early childhood education.
State Senator Mark Wagoner attended the recognition and presented an Ohio Senate Proclamation for the newly earned designation to child care director Lori Richard, Executive Director Connie Torrey, and YMCA and JCC President and CEO Robert Alexander.
YMCA and JCC/United Jewish Council of Greater Toledo awarded $125,000 nonprofit Collaboration Prize The YMCA and JCC/United Jewish Council of Greater Toledo has been named winner for The Collaboration Prize for their outstanding model of nonprofit collaboration. The YMCA and JCC/United Jewish Council of Greater Toledo tied with the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science as recognized leaders in leveraging resources, eliminating duplication of programs and services, and increasing efficiency through collaboration. The YMCA and JCC/United Jewish Council, as well as the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science will share the $250,000 prize. Lodestar announced the winner Thursday afternoon March 5, 2009.

Child Care Center Steps Up to Quality The Sekach Center is a one star child care program based on the Step Up To Quality program from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Silver Sneakers ® Fitness Program The Silver Sneakers ® Fitness Program is a national exercise program designed exclusively for older adults and offered to Medicare-eligible members. YMCA/JCC offers the SilverSneakers ® Fitness program to eligible members of Anthem BCBS and Humana health plans. For eligibility, contact your insurance provider.
