Y Child Care Awarded Star
Recently, in recognition of the excellent child care program and ongoing commitment to children, the YMCA/JCC Afterschool Adventure site at 716 Askin Street in Maumee, in the Maumee Schools Administration Building, has received a Step Up To Quality Star Award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services - Bureau of Child Care and Development, the state agency responsible for licensing and promoting high standards among Ohio’s child care programs.
“I'm very proud of this accomplishment for our center", said Dawn Hoffer, center director. She continued, "We have all worked long and hard to earn our first Star and we're very excited. The Maumee area has been so wonderful to work with us and we look forward to continuing to grow with them."
Achieving these benchmarks is crucial for the future of Ohio’s children as more parents join the workforce and more children are cared for outside of the home.

Step Up To Quality is a voluntary rating system for early care and education programs. Participating programs can earn a one, two or three-star rating by meeting an extensive list of quality benchmarks. Experts say these benchmarks improve the growth and development potential of children. The rating system also gives parents a useful tool for selecting quality programs.
