21st Century Program - Site Director

Job Type: Part-Time

The director must have knowledge and desire to implement a high quality program with the 4 key components of a 21st Community Learning Centers program and a licensed child care program. The Site Director must have the ability to work as a key team member in a school environment, with staff, parents and key stakeholders. Also required are excellent verbal and written skills and computer skills, experience working with a diverse group of adults (administrators, staff, families and community members), experience and proven success with child care licensing, staff supervision, business operations which include, children’s and staff files as well as day to day center management. Pay is an hourly wage based on experience and certification/ part-time/up to 20 hours per week.


Job Segments:

  • Assure that 21st CCLC program plans are in place and that they provide developmentally appropriate academic and youth development activities for students.
  • Communicate with parents, school and program staff, and project partners to offer support and link of services using these methods: Phone calls, emails, text/remind app, and contactless deliveries both face to face and virtually. 
  • Maintain up to date center students’ enrollment and attendance information.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of all program participants by monitoring safe arrival and departure procedures. Will adhere to Covid 19 mandates of mask wearing and social distancing while working. Will assist in cleaning and disinfecting at our school site.
  • Supervise, monitor, observe and provide feedback to program staff on a regular basis to assure that 21st CCLC program is meeting the outcomes in the impact areas. 
  • Work with 21st CCLC Grant Manager to provide snacks and nutrition education programming. 
  • Maintain a high quality relationship with YMCA branch staff, feeder school administrators and teachers and staff with other community partner agencies.
  • Work directly with community agencies to provide needed resources and services to families and their children.
  • Coordinate special needs accommodation plans for children with disabilities with the lead teachers and the parents.
  • Help refer parents to the Parent and School Advisory group
  • Attend director meetings as scheduled.
  • Coordinate with other YMCA afterschool sites to share staff, program ideas, and distribution of materials.
  • Assist the YMCA branch with raising scholarship contributions through the YMCA Annual Campaign. 
  • Be a YMCA professional and represent yourself in all situations as a YMCA employee in and out of your position.
  • Attend trainings/meetings as called upon.

21st Century Program Assistant

Job Type: Part-Time

Responsible to assist the Site Director and Tutors with the implementation of Afterschool 21st Century program. This person is responsible for assisting with student academic success, communicating effectively with students/parents and school staff, helping lead enrichment and recreational activities, meal preparation and supervision of students. Must be available to work Monday thru Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Hours vary by site with an average of 17 to 20 hours a week during the school year. This may include nights and weekends or other hours as needed. Pay is an hourly rate based on experience. 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with students one on one or in a small group setting to assist with the implementation of program activities that offer enrichment, social skills development, life skills learning, and character education.
  • Will adhere to Covid-19 mandates of mask wearing and social distancing while working. Will assist in cleaning and disinfecting at our school site.
  • Assist the Site director and tutors in integrating academic support and enrichment in all other program activities.
  • Model and reinforce desired character and social skills within the context of a safe, supportive physical and emotional environment.
  • Supervise all program students and assist with snack/supper and student movement from one program activity to another.
  • Ensure the safe arrival and departure of students involved in the program.
  • Communicate with parents, school and program staff, and project partners to offer support and link of services using these methods: Phone calls, emails, text/remind app, and contactless deliveries.

Assistant Swim Team Coach

Job Type: Part-Time

Under the supervision of the head swim team coach, the swim team coach will be responsible for the organization, management, and daily operation of the YMCA of Greater Toledo Swim Team program.  The swim coach will be responsible for managing such a program according to the established policies, missions, and expectations of the YMCA of Greater Toledo.


Job Segments:

  1. Be responsible for coaching, training, and conditioning of the swim team members, with the direction of the head coach.
  2. Maintain a safe environment at all times.
  3. Abide by and enforce all rules set by the YMCA of Greater Toledo, the Northwest Ohio YMCA Swim League, National YMCA, and USA Swimming.
  4. Assign Swimmers to competitive events for all meets.
  5. Discuss and document serious disciplinary or behavioral problems involving a swimmer with the swimmer’s parents, head coach and program director.
  6. Be responsible for the behavior of the swim team members during practice sessions. The coaches’ actions should help instill in the team members a sense of sportsmanship, loyalty to the group, willingness to work hard, and courteous and respectful behavior at all times. 
  7. Decide, with the head coach, at the completion of the season, which awards are to be presented to team members at the annual banquet.
  8. Maintain a group roster containing each swimmer’s name and birth date.
    1. Monitor attendance of the group at practices and meets
    2. Assist head coach with assigning swimmers to the appropriate practice groups.
  9. Coaching of any other competitive team should not conflict with duties at the YMCA.
  10. Be responsible for designating a qualified substitute to manage the team when he/she is unable to be present due to illness or emergency.  Report this to the branch program director and head coach prior to the meet and/or practice.
  11. Become a member of the National YMCA Swimming Coaches Association, upon recommendation of the head coach and program director.
  12. Represent the YMCA of Greater Toledo when coaching the team and be responsible for the conduct of team members and parents.
  13. Responsible for organizing, with parent volunteers, the home meets.  
  14. Be responsible for the proper storage of equipment during and after all practices and meets.
  15. Attend all swim meets scheduled for his/her team.  The swim coach must be in attendance as long as team members are participating.
  16. Report to supervisor any conflicts in performing coaching duties as outlined above.
  17. Participate as an active participant during the Scholarship Campaign, Open House(s), and other activities deemed necessary by the program directors and executive directors.
  18. Meet with the Head Swim Coach on a monthly basis, or as deemed necessary. 
  19. Be familiar with and adhere to all recommendations of “Total Quality Management” and follow all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Greater Toledo.
 

Assistant Teacher - School-Age

Under the direction of the Site Director and/or Assistant Director and Lead Teacher, the School Age Aide is responsible for carrying out the day to day tasks assigned by the Lead teacher at the specified site.  She/he will be responsible for helping in leading program activities, assessment, snack preparation, and communicating effectively with the children, their parents, YMCA/JCC personnel, and the center guest when needed and as assigned by the lead teacher.

Responsibilities:

Custodian/Housekeeper

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, including such duties as mopping, dusting, and trash removal.  May complete duties related to window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, snow removal, grounds keeping, and other related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.
  2. Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  3. Records and reports all needed repairs; perform repairs as directed.
  4. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  5. Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
  6. May set up furniture for events.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Dance Instructor

To provide dance instruction.

JOB SEGMENTS:

  • Be within the area (dance studio) and ready to teach prior to class start time. Greet each program participant.
  • Plan and execute a strong class based on proper movement and safety of participants.
  • See that each class includes: Introduction, Warm-up, Review, Skill Development, Personal Growth, and Safety.
  • Keep the studio and storage room neat and clean. Report any damaged equipment and recommendations to the Coordinator.

District Administrator

Under the direction of the District Vice President and in the accordance with the Association policies, the District Administrator will be responsible for the day to day administrative support of a high quality, member centered district of YMCAs.

JOB SEGMENTS:

  1. Maintains and issues Purchase Orders for day to day District operations.
  2. Manage all scholarships request in a timely manner. Research & Review all Scholarship donors for the past 8 years to improve our donor base.
  3. Responsible for developing systems to ensure proper use of Credit card and for all branch programs. Accurately complete necessary reporting associated with the credit cards.
  4. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays based upon needs of the YMCA.
  5. Orders office supplies for District
  6. Assists in the planning and organization for For Your Y Benefit
  7. Accurately processes payroll for the District on a twice per month basis.

She/he will work cooperatively with the center director to provide day to day guidance to the Teacher Assistants.

Fitness Instructor (Land or Water)

To instruct a group exercise class according to the guidelines of the YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Instructor training. Insure the safety of all participants during class.

Job Segments:

Kidzone Attendant

Primary function for the branch KidZone Center include being a positive role model, working with children in group activities, maintaining a clean, fun and safe environment for children of all ages in the KidZone Center. Branches include our West Toledo YMCA and Francis Family YMCA.

  1. Be in chair and ready to lifeguard on time. Be alert and attentive while in your chair/on duty.
  2. Ensure that all swimmers and divers follow pool rules and policies.
  3. Wear staff uniform at all times while on duty.
  4. Follow opening and closing procedures.
  5. Fill out accident/incident reports for any accident, no matter how minor
  6. Never read or talk to friends while in your chair.
  7. Responsible for all scheduled shifts.  Find and secure your own substitute when needed, this is your responsibility.

  1.   Meet and exceed membership satisfaction and retention goals.
  2.   Ensure that daily care of members is first priority; assist with both the member service desk, front desk operations and the wellness floor. Accurately process new member processing, program enrollment, scanning membership cards, and welcome and greet members. Schedule Smart Start appointments for all new members.
  3.   Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal and financial data for each member.
  4.   Monitoring and enforcing membership policies and procedures.
  5.   Collaborate with all branch staff to ensure service excellence and timely follow-up to all member questions and/or complaints.
  6. Assist in selling memberships and programs by proactively engaging in conversations on the benefits of YMCA memberships and programs.

  • The Piano/Keyboarding class is limited to 7 students per class based upon the available equipment and optimum class size. We do not allow siblings/friends to sit-in on classes.  Parents are permitted to stay, however small children should be checked in to the Kid Zone.

Program Planning:

Wayman Palmer YMCA Community Center HUB Director

The Community Director is responsible for the implementation, integration, alignment and coordination of the Wayman Palmer YMCA Community Center HUB. 

The Director leads the coordination of the majority of activities, programs, and supplemental services implemented at the Wayman Palmer YMCA site, which may include morning, afternoon, evening and weekend activities.  This position often requires hours outside the traditional work day for programs and services inside the center and also outreach throughout the community.

Primary Activities:

  1. Communicate/coordinate with the Center Executive weekly to plan and move the strategy forward and share work schedule regularly. 
  2. Facilitate communication and broker relationships with existing and potential partners, key stakeholders, and volunteers that lead to programming, services, and opportunities that are responsive to identified assets and needs.
  3. Coordinate a menu of needs-driven, high-quality programs and services (community engagement process and assets/needs assessments), including, but not limited to: health and well-being, family and community engagement, and academic success. 
  4. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Applies all YMCA policies/procedures dealing with member services and facility monitoring.
  5. Develop, maintain, and update agreements for all partners and programs annually, including outcome measured against shared goals.
  6. Manage standardized tools and processes for Hub strategy to capture program partners’ enrollment, attendance, schedule and identified alignment within Hub priorities. 
  7. Recruit and convene a community-based leadership and governance team to meet bi-monthly. This team serves as a coordinating body that is led by the Director and may be comprised of support staff, community members, partners, parents, and others to identify needs, set priorities, and coordinate a community-based strategy. 
  8. Conduct bi-annual comprehensive needs assessment utilizing the community survey.  The assessment engages multiple stakeholders in the neighborhood that fosters a wide-ranging understanding of the neighborhood’s opportunities and risks.
  9. Utilize and implement all tools, processes, and resources provided by United Way Greater Toledo (UWGT) and the YMCA for the growth and development of the community.
  10. Provide coordination of programming for students, families and the community members during extended daily hours and year long.
  11. Participate in capacity-building activities, YMCA/Community offered trainings, meetings, and events across the community.
  12. Participate in neighborhood-based meetings and events connected to community strategy.
  13. Participate in monthly Director meetings, ongoing trainings, and technical assistance activities coordinated by UWGT and the YMCA.
