YMCA Honored with $250,000 Gift from Paul and Virginia Whitman Estate

TOLEDO, Ohio - June 17, 2019 - The YMCA of Greater Toledo has been awarded a $250,00 gift from the Paul and Virginia Whitman Estate for the YMCA Christian Emphasis Endowment. Paul and Virginia Whitman were also founding supporters of the Francis Family YMCA, which opened in 2005.

National Bike to School Day Encourages Safer Routes for Biking and Walking

YMCA Awarded Grant from Toledo Community Foundation to Support Nutrition and Physical Activity of Local Youth

TOLEDO, Ohio - March 18, 2019 - The YMCA of Greater Toledo has been awarded a grant from the Toledo Walleye Hockey Club's Walleye Wishing Well Fund - approved by the board of trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation - in the amount of $5,538. These funds will be used to support physical activity of more than 300 students in participating Toledo Public Schools during the colder months of the new year.

YMCA Wellness Challenge Ends; 763 People Dropped 2 Tons of Weight in Just 8 Weeks

TOLEDO, Ohio - March 15, 2019 - As part of the YMCA of Greater Toledo's first Wellness Challenge in 2019, more than 750 people dropped 4,000 pounds over an 8-week period ending last week. The number of participants in the Y program more than tripled from its Wellness Challenge last fall.

YMCA Awarded $50,000 Grant for After-School Tutoring

TOLEDO, Ohio - February 27, 2019 - The YMCA of Greater Toledo has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of North American automaker FCA US LLC. This grant will fund after-school education programming for students attending:

  • Riverside Elementary School at 500 Chicago Street
  • Spring Elementary School at 730 Spring Street

Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo Sells JCC Campus to YMCA

TOLEDO, Ohio - January 2, 2019 - The Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo announced today the sales of the Jewish Community Center campus to the YMCA of Greater Toledo. The JCC and the YMCA have collaborated together on the campus for the past 20 years.
