Six Teams to Compete in YMCA Lifeguard Olympics

6-7 teams of lifeguards from Greater Toledo YMCA branches (and possibly Lenawee County, Mich.)

WHAT                        

Annual lifeguard Olympics

Overall point winner gets bragging rights for the year as well as the trophy with their YMCA branch name and year

Spirit Award also goes to one branch best supporting the lifeguards

WHEN                        

Friday, July 19, 9 a.m. to noon – with more active (in the water) activities 9:45-11 a.m.

WHERE                       

Outdoor pool at the Sylvania YMCA/JCC @ 6465 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania

WHY                           

Recognize the crucial roles lifeguards play in protecting adults and kids in water-based activities and the skills and knowledge they possess

Build comradery among the Y’s lifeguard ranks

Compete for a trophy (and bragging rights) and HAVE FUN 

Overall fun, friendly and boisterous competition for the young men and women tasked with the safety of thousands of swimmers of all ages in YMCA indoor and outdoor pools throughout the year
