Thousands of kids face hunger in our area. Kids who rely on meals at school during the academic year often go without healthy foods in the summer months. In Lucas County alone, 40% of kids live in poverty. Families are struggling to make ends meet.

“This collaboration is vitally important because Summer Meal Partners is proof that community-wide efforts are possible. We are combating childhood hunger and work collectively to help some of our most vulnerable residents: hungry kids,” said Wendi Huntley, President of Connecting Kids to Meals.

There will be over 175 locations in the area this summer. The group also is working to fight the summer slide by working with partner sites to offer educational, enrichment, sports and fun activities. Partners include schools, libraries, churches, community centers, parks and other locations where kids gather. Last year, about 320,000 nutritious meals were provided to kids. Learn more at
