From a stay-at-home mom to active Y instructor, Amanda learned how the Y is more than just a recreation center; it is a place for opportunity.
Before Amanda was an instructor at the Sylvania YMCA and JCC, she was a stay-at-home mom of three children. She was struggling to maintain her weight and always felt exhausted. Amanda needed a place to not only improve her health, but also a place where her children could interact with others. She immediately thought of the Y. Her and her family started to take advantage of multiple group fitness classes. Amanda also signed her children up for activities, such as sports, swim lessons, and arts & humanities classes.
Later, after consistent exercise and eating healthier foods, Amanda felt physically and mentally better. She wanted to help others feel as good as she was feeling, so Amanda pursued her group fitness instructor certification at the Y. Now, she is currently instructing five group fitness classes and is an instructor for personal and small group training sessions.
“I absolutely love motivating others to push themselves to be their best.”
The Y offers a variety of opportunities and activities to help you meet your wellness needs, including an extensive variety of group exercise classes and personal and small group training services. Check out our fitness opportunities at https://www.ymcatoledo.org/main/fitness/.
