Assistant Swim Team Coach

Job Type: Part-Time

Under the supervision of the head swim team coach, the swim team coach will be responsible for the organization, management, and daily operation of the YMCA of Greater Toledo Swim Team program.  The swim coach will be responsible for managing such a program according to the established policies, missions, and expectations of the YMCA of Greater Toledo.


Job Segments:

  1. Be responsible for coaching, training, and conditioning of the swim team members, with the direction of the head coach.
  2. Maintain a safe environment at all times.
  3. Abide by and enforce all rules set by the YMCA of Greater Toledo, the Northwest Ohio YMCA Swim League, National YMCA, and USA Swimming.
  4. Assign Swimmers to competitive events for all meets.
  5. Discuss and document serious disciplinary or behavioral problems involving a swimmer with the swimmer’s parents, head coach and program director.
  6. Be responsible for the behavior of the swim team members during practice sessions. The coaches’ actions should help instill in the team members a sense of sportsmanship, loyalty to the group, willingness to work hard, and courteous and respectful behavior at all times. 
  7. Decide, with the head coach, at the completion of the season, which awards are to be presented to team members at the annual banquet.
  8. Maintain a group roster containing each swimmer’s name and birth date.
    1. Monitor attendance of the group at practices and meets
    2. Assist head coach with assigning swimmers to the appropriate practice groups.
  9. Coaching of any other competitive team should not conflict with duties at the YMCA.
  10. Be responsible for designating a qualified substitute to manage the team when he/she is unable to be present due to illness or emergency.  Report this to the branch program director and head coach prior to the meet and/or practice.
  11. Become a member of the National YMCA Swimming Coaches Association, upon recommendation of the head coach and program director.
  12. Represent the YMCA of Greater Toledo when coaching the team and be responsible for the conduct of team members and parents.
  13. Responsible for organizing, with parent volunteers, the home meets.  
  14. Be responsible for the proper storage of equipment during and after all practices and meets.
  15. Attend all swim meets scheduled for his/her team.  The swim coach must be in attendance as long as team members are participating.
  16. Report to supervisor any conflicts in performing coaching duties as outlined above.
  17. Participate as an active participant during the Scholarship Campaign, Open House(s), and other activities deemed necessary by the program directors and executive directors.
  18. Meet with the Head Swim Coach on a monthly basis, or as deemed necessary. 
  19. Be familiar with and adhere to all recommendations of “Total Quality Management” and follow all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Greater Toledo.
 

Assistant Teacher - School-Age

Under the direction of the Site Director and/or Assistant Director and Lead Teacher, the School Age Aide is responsible for carrying out the day to day tasks assigned by the Lead teacher at the specified site.  She/he will be responsible for helping in leading program activities, assessment, snack preparation, and communicating effectively with the children, their parents, YMCA/JCC personnel, and the center guest when needed and as assigned by the lead teacher.

Responsibilities:

  1. Follow directions and complete assigned tasks given from Lead Teacher and Site Director.
  2. Follow Ohio’s Common Core Standards and the school age curriculum.
  3. Help to maintain the daily records.
  4. Attend family events.
  5. Understand and help to update a portfolio on each child.
  6. Assist with self assessments, child assessments and environmental assessments.
  7. Follow YMCA/JCC child care policies and procedures, as well as ODJFS licensing standards.
  8. Follow and adhere to TQM policies.

District Administrator

Under the direction of the District Vice President and in the accordance with the Association policies, the District Administrator will be responsible for the day to day administrative support of a high quality, member centered district of YMCAs.

JOB SEGMENTS:

  1. Maintains and issues Purchase Orders for day to day District operations.
  2. Manage all scholarships request in a timely manner. Research & Review all Scholarship donors for the past 8 years to improve our donor base.
  3. Responsible for developing systems to ensure proper use of Credit card and for all branch programs. Accurately complete necessary reporting associated with the credit cards.
  4. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays based upon needs of the YMCA.
  5. Orders office supplies for District
  6. Assists in the planning and organization for For Your Y Benefit
  7. Accurately processes payroll for the District on a twice per month basis.

Early Childhood Classroom Aide

  3. Help to maintain a learning environment with developmentally appropriate activities.
  4. Communicate effectively with children, their parents, other YMCA/JCC staff, and center guest.
  5. Report any concerns to your supervisor.
  6. Respond to emergencies according to YMCA/JCC procedures.
  7. Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children and staff.
  8. Take direction from Lead Teacher.
 

Guitar Instructor

To instruct and guitar classes. 

JOB SEGMENTS:

  • Be within the area of instructing and ready to teach 15 minutes before class begins.

  • See that each class includes: Introduction, Review, Skill Development, Personal Growth, and Safety.
  • Keep the room neat and cleaned. Report any damaged equipment and recommendations to the Program Director.  Each student is responsible for purchasing and maintaining their own guitar.  We are not responsible for storing or maintaining their instruments.
  • Do not turn children away if they are not on your attendance list. Include them in your class and clear it up later.
  • Do not hesitate to move a child the first class of the session. Please inform all of the parties concerned: parents, Program Director, students……
  • Be consistent, courteous, consciences, helpful and most of all …. Make sure that all of the kids have FUN!
  • Keep Program Director informed at all times of substitutes.

Lifeguard

Job Type: Part-Time

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A YMCA lifeguard must possess and keep current the following certifications at all times:  Lifeguarding, Adult/Child/Infant CPR (Professional Rescue or Healthcare Provider), First Aid, Oxygen Administration, and AED.  Have an understanding of facility policies, procedures, and rules.  Possess leadership qualities and a strong work ethic.


JOB SEGMENTS:

  1. Be in chair and ready to lifeguard on time. Be alert and attentive while in your chair/on duty.
  2. Ensure that all swimmers and divers follow pool rules and policies.
  3. Wear staff uniform at all times while on duty.
  4. Follow opening and closing procedures.
  5. Fill out accident/incident reports for any accident, no matter how minor
  6. Never read or talk to friends while in your chair.
  7. Find and secure your own substitute when needed, this is your responsibility.
  8. Demonstrate Responsibility, Respect, Caring & Honesty towards members, guests, co-workers, and supervisor at all times.
  9. Maintain a clean deck at all times. Report any unsafe conditions to necessary personal.
  10. Please conduct yourself in a professional manner, remember you are a reflection of the YMCA.
  11. Maintain your physical ability to perform rescues. Attend all trainings.
  12. Ensure storage room is kept clean and equipment is stored properly.
  13. Read and understand evaluation criteria.
  14. Personnel will be required to attend at least 2 hours of in-service a month to keep skills current.

To ensure the safety of all swimmers and observers in the pool area, while maintaining a clean and fun environment.


Job Segments:

  1. Be on deck and ready to lifeguard on time.
  2. Ensure that all swimmers and divers follow pool rules and policies.
  3. Follow opening and closing procedures.
  4. Never read or do homework while someone is in the pool.
  5. Take chemical readings and record on chemical log sheet at specified times (see log sheet). These are state required records!
  6. Count the number of people in the pool and record on pool attendance form every ½ hour. These are important legal records!
  7. Find and secure your own substitute when needed, complete Sub Request Form, and turn in to your supervisor for approval.
  8. Check board daily in the guard office to keep up to date and informed of upcoming events.
  9. Demonstrate Responsibility, Respect, Caring & Honesty towards members, guests, co-workers, and supervisor at all times.
  10. Maintain a clean deck at all times.
  11. Maintain your physical ability to perform rescues. Attend all trainings and swim/record 500’s weekly
  12. Ensure storage room is kept clean and equipment is stored properly.

Member Service Associate

Under the direction of the Membership Director and in the accordance with Association policies, the Member Service Associate (MSA) is responsible for member satisfaction and retention through impeccable member service and practices that promote member engagement. The MSA will possess extensive knowledge in membership and program options as well as specific center information. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Meet and exceed membership satisfaction and retention goals.
  2. Ensure that daily care of members is first priority; assist with member service desk operations including scanning membership cards and greeting members.
  3. Collaborate with all center staff to ensure service excellence and timely follow up to all member questions and/or complaints.
  4. Assist in selling memberships and programs by proactively engaging in conversations on the benefits of YMCA of Lenawee County
    memberships and programs.
  5. Accurately process new memberships and program registrations including cash transactions and maintenance of member records. Respond to inquiries both in person and by phone.
  6. Will use all tools provided to increase the level of member interaction, including technological tools
  7. Practice strong fiscal stewardship in the execution of financial and membership policies and procedures.
  8. Actively participate in the Annual Scholarship Campaign by helping to raise dollars toward the center goal.

Piano/Keyboard Instruction

To instruct and lead piano/keyboard classes.

JOB SEGMENTS:

  • Be within the area of instructing and ready to teach 15 minutes before class begins.
  • Plan and execute a strong class based on proper techniques
  • See that each class includes: Introduction, Review, Skill Development, Personal Growth, and Safety.
  • Keep the room neat and cleaned. Report any damaged equipment and recommendations to the Program Director.  Keyboards were purchased by the YMCA and are the property of the YMCA. 
  • The Piano/Keyboarding class is limited to 7 students per class based upon the available equipment and optimum class size. We do not allow siblings/friends to sit-in on classes.  Parents are permitted to stay, however small children should be checked in to the Kid Zone.

  • Keep Program Director informed at all times of substitutes.

Program Educator

An educator works as part of a “Front Line” team responsible for delivering top quality residential OEE and SPGR camping programs.


Job Duties

Program Planning:

  • Prepared to teach all curriculum area through training, peer observation, research, and class outlines.
  • Maintains a safe, high quality standard program for all guests of Storer Camps.
  • Assists in the continued development and delivery of the curriculum.
  • Functions as a part of the entire Association. Participates in all program areas of Storer Camps and Association as requested.
  • Develops and maintains new program opportunities and responsive evaluations to improve Storer’s programs.
  • Responsible for general facility and equipment upkeep on a daily basis as well as center wide clean up at the end of the week.
  • Class equipment is well cared for, kept clean and orderly.
  • Equipment and facility needs are observed and communicated to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings.

 

Implementing Programming:

  • Teaches curriculum areas of Natural Science, Renewable Energy, Adventure Education (includes the climbing tower, low and high rope courses) and Cultural History.
  • Responsible and willing to rotate duties as a staff member in OEE and SPGR programs.
  • Assists with Health Services based on training/experience.
  • Assists with hosting school/SPGR groups, leading meals, large group programs.

School-Age Child Care Aide

SilverSneakers Group Exercise Instructor

To instruct a group exercise class according to the guidelines of the YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Instructor training.  Insure the safety of all participants during class.

Job Segments:

  2. Be at the YMCA, or designated work site, prior to class to prepare.
  3. Make sure all necessary equipment is out before class is scheduled to begin and return equipment to storage after class.
  4. Conduct class in accordance with standard conditioning principles according to designated program you have been assigned to teach.
  5. Be aware at all times to participant’s level of activity intensity, encouraging them to go at their own pace.
  6. Observe building policies, restrictions, and emergency procedures.
  7. Openly promote health enhancement programs offered at the YMCA.

  9. Attend all fitness staff meetings and training sessions when deemed necessary by your supervisor.
  10. Be dressed in appropriate attire when while teaching class.

Sports Coordinator

The Sports Coordinator is responsible for the planning, budgeting and coordination of all sports related programming at the assigned Branch of the YMCA of Greater Toledo.

  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  3. Understands and fully participates in the Y-Improvement model for his/her branch as well as any assigned Association initiatives. Will ensure data within the Y-Improvement model is accurate and up to date.  Will be accountable for meeting or exceeding target conditions related to his/her areas of responsibility.
  4. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  5. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
  6. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  7. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  8. Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  9. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
