Fort Meigs YMCA and Perrysburg Heights Youth Sports Staff

General Function

Under the guidance of the Program Director, the Youth Sports Staff will help administer a broad youth sports programs.  Helps to plan, organize and direct quality programs and staff.  Be the contact for all Fort Meigs YMCA programming at the Perrysburg Heights Community Center.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Under the direction of the Program Director, help plan, budget, and manage the youth sports department in order to provide a balanced operation.
  2. Assist in supervision of staff and volunteers, to include scheduling and evaluating.
  3. Program operations to include parent/coaches meetings, instructional classes, skill clinics, scheduling practices and games, team selection, games and celebrations.
  4. Implementation of character development in all aspects of youth sports.
  5. Assist with staff and volunteer recruitment.
  6. Responsible for maintenance of program equipment.
  7. Continually relate to YMCA members and the community in which the YMCA serves and help maintain a positive image.
  8. Direct teaching, coaching and refereeing responsibilities as needed.
  9. Help to prepare and distribute necessary public relations, flyers, newsletters, brochures, etc., as it relates to youth sports and the operation of the Fort Meigs YMCA.
  10. Assist the Program Director in matters as so decided to ensure a successful Fort Meigs YMCA operation.

Starting wage shall be $8.55 per hour, approximately 10-12 hours per week (predominantly evenings and weekends), and have the opportunity to work an additional 16 hours at the Fort Meigs Y.

KidZone Coordinator

  • Act as a mentor to the Kid Zone program staff in the areas of programming, leadership, and staff development.  Ensures staff are trained and prepared to achieve the desired quality, safety, and program outcomes.

  • Provide initial orientation for new staff and ongoing training for all staff.

Membership Director

Under the supervision of the District Vice President, the Membership Director is responsible for marketing and sales as it pertains to member attraction and retention, and communications. The Membership Director is also responsible for membership policies and procedures. In addition, responsibilities entail membership campaigns, member engagement with new and existing members along with community relationship. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serve as direct supervisor of Membership Team at the branch, including the Welcome Specialist and Branch Administrator.
  2. Actively visit and recruit business to promote the Corporate Wellness Partner program.
  3. Assist in selling memberships and programs by proactively engaging in conversations on the benefits of YMCA memberships and programs.
  4. Assist to motivate and train staff to improve membership and member retention.
  5. Meet and exceed monthly and yearly branch goals for new membership, retention cancelations and renewals.
  6. Build relationships with members, program participants and community partners.
  7. Implement and evaluate all aspects of the membership function of the Branch, in accordance with the YMCA of Greater Toledo guidelines.
  8. Will embrace, use and require all department staff to use all tools provided to increase the level of member interaction.
  9. Ensure daily member questions and requests are handled in efficient and timely manner.
  10. Work closely with Welcome Specialist, Branch Administrator and Front Desk Staff to ensure membership paperwork is obtained and processed accurately to meet the organization’s goal.
  11. Maintain a working knowledge of membership types and rate structures; including short-term membership and membership payment.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal and financial data for each member.
  13. Maintain the filing system that meets the organization standards.
  14. Monitoring and enforcing membership policies and procedures.
  15. Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of the membership process –i.e. cancelation, renewals, on-hold request, existing member changes, and new member application/bank draft and suspending bank draft
  16. Accurately process new membership registrations including cash transactions and maintenance of member records. Respond to inquiries both in person, phone and email.
  17. Practice strong fiscal stewardship in the execution of financial and membership policies and procedures.
  18. Understand and fully participate in the Y-Improvement model for his/her branch as well as any assigned Association initiatives.Will ensure data within the Y-Improvement model is accurate and up to date.  Will be accountable for meeting or exceeding target conditions related to his/her areas of responsibility.
  19. Actively participate in the Annual Campaign by helping to raise dollars toward the branch goal.
  20. Respond to emergency situations by adhering to the safety policies and procedures set for the Association.

Senior Program Director

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, and in accordance with Association policies, the Senior Program Director is responsible for the day to day operations of the Anthony Wayne Community YMCA facility.  This position directly supervises multiple departments including but not limited to membership,  sports, health and wellness, and other departments as mutually agreed upon. Preferred candidate will have expertise in health and wellness and have their personal training certification or will be willing to obtain their personal training certification.  This position also assists the Executive Director with all facility operations and provides leadership to the YMCA Annual Campaign.  The Senior Program Director will be in charge of all branch operations when the Executive Director is not at the facility.

JOB SEGMENTS:

  • Staff Development: Hire, supervise, train and evaluate staff teams. Consults with Executive Director and Chief Resource Officer before suspending or terminating staff members. 
  • Volunteer Development: Develop and direct the YMCAs volunteer program. Records all volunteer hours monthly for reporting.
  • Financial Development: Provide leadership to staff and volunteers in the YMCAs Annual Campaign.  Assist with all other fundraising activities and goals.
  • Budget Management: Prepares, develops, administers and controls all department fiscal budgets including meeting income targets and expense control, in consultation with the Executive Director.
  • Y Improvement Model: Understands and fully implements the Y-Improvement model at his/her branch and will ensure that all management staff are fully engaged in the process.
  • Facility Management: Responsible for providing clean and well maintained facilities and grounds.  Work with staff to upgrade facilities and equipment. 
  • Strategic Planning: Works with the Executive Director and volunteers to develop annual branch goals and individual staff goals as determined by the Associations Strategic Plan.
  • Recordkeeping: Gather statistics as needed.
  • Risk Management: Ensure the safety of members and staff.  Report any areas needing attention immediately to proper department.
  • Program Team: Serve as Lead Staff Liaison for the Anthony Wayne YMCA Board of Managers.
  • Schedule: Ability to work evenings as needed to best serve the membership and lead programming.

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Sports Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and advancement of the Sports programming for the Wolf Creek Branch of the YMCA of Greater Toledo. This position will develop and implement innovative curriculum and activities, supervise, guide and develop staff to ensure that participant’s development occurs in a fun, healthy and safe environment, and ensure program outcomes are consistently achieved.

  • Prepare and distribute progress cards as needed.
  • Be courteous, consistent, conscientious, helpful and most of all make sure each child participates fully and has FUN!
  • Keep Program Coordinator informed of any changes/problems that arise.

General Functions:

Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator, the Instructor will help implement the Anthony Wayne Community YMCA youth art and/or sports camp programs. Relevant arts background.

• Understand the instructor staff role as a representative of the YMCA and project a positive image at all times within the community

• No electronics are to be used during work hours, unless there is an emergency

Teen Coordinator

General Function

Under the guidance of the Associate Executive Director, the Teen Coordinator will help watch over and participate in the daily activities with the teens.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Understand and live by the Character Values of the YMCA such as Faith, Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  2. Staff member must exhibit a passion for working with teens.
  3. Participate in activities with teens in order to build relationships with teens, and families within the Teen Center and Teen Programming.
  4. Staff must make a commitment to be a role model to teens at all times and sign role model agreement.
  5. Demonstrate objectivity in emotional situations by exercising professional skills in problem solving, by maintaining patience, confidence, and composure under pressure and adverse circumstances.
  6. Must be willing to be a team player with other staff members and or director.
  7. Staff member should not exhibit any negative behavior or participate in gossip with other members or staff regarding YMCA programming or classes.
  8. Staff member should be able to display a positive working attitude and also accept any situation that pertains to YMCA Teen Programming even when they do not accept the ideas or decisions of management.
  9. Must be confident in their leadership skills by being able to give directions or discipline teens when the occasion arises.
  10. Give ideas and help with the creative process of planning teen programming.
  11. Understand the Teen Coordinator role as a representative of the YMCA and project a positive image at all times within the community.
  12. Coordinator should not sit for no longer than 15 minutes unless staff member is interacting in an activity with a teen.
  13. Coordinator must understand that his or her role is to interact and engage teens that come into the Teen Center.
  14. Coordinator should be able to take directions from management.
  15. Promote a professional working environment while establishing open communication with Teen & Wellness Director while in the YMCA and other activities while representing the YMCA.
  16. Coordinator should establish and maintain a working Teen Leaders Club or Teen Bible Study with active service projects.
  17. Coordinator should have a complimentary working relationship with the staff of Start High School and make an effort to attend the school building at least 4 times a month.
  18. Coordinator is expected to recruit teens to attend regional teen rallies and annual Leaders Training School.
  19. If for any reason you are unable to work your shift, find own substitute.
  20. Document and communicate to the Associate Executive Director about any difficult situations that may arise.
  21. Perform opening and closing duties
  22. Complete other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director

Successful completion of the above job responsibilities will ensure a quality and safe daily operation of the West Toledo YMCA Teen Center.

Schedule

Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-8:00pm working as Teen Center attendant (plus weekend availability once a month for service projects and other scheduled teen events)
