Aquatic Support Staff

This position supports the YMCA/JCC Outdoor Pool and staff by helping with cleaning and counting members entering the pool.  The YMCA of Greater Toledo is a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. JOB SEGMENTS:

Aquatics Coordinator

Under the direction of the District Aquatics Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Eastern Community Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and advancement of the Aquatics Lifeguards and training for the Eastern Community Branch of the YMCA of Greater Toledo.  This position will assist in the development and implementation of innovative curriculum and activities, supervise, guide and develop lifeguarding staff to ensure that Y members and participants experience a fun, healthy and safe environment, and ensure program outcomes are consistently achieved. 


JOB SEGMENTS

  1. Ensures that daily care of members, teens and families is a key priority through supervision of staff and volunteers in accordance with the organization’s policies, mission and applicable laws.
  2. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training the Eastern Community YMCAs lifeguards, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  3. Assist in the implementation of aquatics staff in-service programs by providing direction, leadership, support, and efficiencies for team members through strategic planning, administrative standardization, registration, quality standards, and risk management according to the YMCA of Greater Toledo’s Aquatics Standards.
  4. Lifeguarding a minimum of 30 hours per week
  5. Oversee outdoor pool operations of the Eastern Community YMCAs Outdoor Pool.
  6. Assist the District Aquatics Director in developing pool schedules for all Eastern Community Branch pools.
  7. Process payroll for all branch lifeguard staff in an accurate and timely manner.
  8. Actively utilize the Y Improvement Model to use strategies to improve the overall lifeguarding experience.
  9. Collaborates with Branch staff to ensure excellence and consistency in service through daily care of members, program participants and volunteers.
  10. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays based upon the needs of the YMCA.
  11. Ensure the Branch’s First Aid Kits are always stocked appropriately.
  12. Be an active participant in the Branch’s Annual Campaign.
  13. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 

Day Camp Videographer

Job Type: Seasonal

To ensure the safety of all participants enrolled in camp. Be sure that participants receive quality instruction in a fun and safe environment. Record and interact in recorded and live videos for virtual day camp. Ability to create and edit videos as needed.

  • Incorporate outdoor education and STEM in actives
  • Keep the area neat and clean. Report any damaged equipment and recommendations to the Sports and Day Camp Director. 
  • Do not turn children away if they are not on your class roster. Include them in your class and follow up later with the Sports and Day Camp Director.
  • Advise the Sports and Day Camp Director if a student is unable to keep up with course curriculum, we may need to move them to a different program or look at alternative solutions.
  • Be consistent, courteous, and helpful and most of all make sure that all of the kids have fun.
  • Keep Sports and Day Camp Director informed at all times of substitutes.
  • Adhere closely to the lesson plan, but remain flexible in case last minute changes are necessary.
  • Be prepared - Review lesson plan, collect supplies, be organized. Provide a list of needed supplies to Director at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the session. Utilize art/music supplies “on hand” whenever possible to reduce material costs.

District Family Director

Category: Family Programming

The District Family Director is responsible for Family Programming services for the Wolf Creek District which consists of the Wolf Creek YMCA and the Sylvania YMCA/JCC. Responsibilities include budgeting, hiring, training, and scheduling of staff to operate the following program areas for the district; KidZone; Birthday Party rentals; District and Branch Family events; Sylvania Inflatables programming; and related programming.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directs and supervises family program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  3. Establishes and expands family programming within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  4. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information throughout the district.
  5. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  6. Develops and monitors family program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
  7. Coordinates use of facilities for program events.
  8. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  9. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  10. Actively participate in the Annual Scholarship Campaign by helping to raise dollars toward the district goal.
  11. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 

District Maintenance Director

Job Type: Full-Time

Under the guidance of the District Vice President and the Executive Directors at the Wolf Creek YMCA and the Sylvania YMCA/JCC the Maintenance Director is responsible for all aspects of facility management.  To work with staff and volunteers at all involved centers, providing the best possible physical environment for the membership and the community.


Job Segments:

  • Provide communication and scheduling with contracted cleaning team and meet as needed.
  • Assist in the community collaboration efforts of the branches. Continually relate to YMCA members and community groups, including schools, churches and various businesses.
  • Participate in assigned committees and maintain community awareness and a positive image of the YMCA.
  • Hire, train and supervise Maintenance/Custodial department staff as needed.
  • Participate in the Annual Campaign.
  • Periodically serve as “on-call” staff person in case of Branch facility emergencies.
  • Is a member of the management staff teams at each branch which includes attendance at all required meetings.
  • Understands and fully participates in the Y-Improvement model for his/her branches as well as any assigned Association initiatives. Will ensure data within the Y-Improvement model is accurate and up to date. Will be accountable for meeting or exceeding target conditions related to his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Assist the Executives with budget controls and take effective action to meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Serve as main contact/supervisor with all sub contracted companies that relate to the facility and grounds.
  • Perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Executives.

General Maintenance Functions:

  • Continually audit all physical/mechanical systems to ensure efficiency.
  • General electrical and plumbing repairs, general carpentry, and other major building maintenance functions normally a part of commercial building maintenance upkeep ad also common tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, yard maintenance, painting, etc.
  • Perform regular pool maintenance and water treatment with appropriate written documentation as dictated by YMCA and Health Department standards/guidelines.
 

Lifeguard

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A YMCA lifeguard must possess and keep current the following certifications at all times:  Lifeguarding, Adult/Child/Infant CPR (Professional Rescue or Healthcare Provider), First Aid, Oxygen Administration, and AED.  Have an understanding of facility policies, procedures, and rules.  Possess leadership qualities and a strong work ethic.

  1. Be in chair and ready to lifeguard on time. Be alert and attentive while in your chair/on duty.
