21st Century Program Assistant

Under the direction of the 21st Century Grant Manager and Site Director, the Program Assistant is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day tasks assigned by the Site Director at the specified site. She/he will be responsible for helping in leading program activities, assessment, snack and dinner preparation, communicating effectively with the children, their parents, YMCA personnel, and the site guests when needed and as assigned by the Site Director. 

 

AVID Tutor

Job Type: Part-Time

Work with licensed Toledo Public School Teachers, gain class room experience and learn the AVID strategy while helping students become college and career ready. 

  • Tutoring in AVID is different from any job you have held before. More than anything else, tutoring in AVID is the best preparation possible for a career in teaching or in any other job which is people oriented. AVID is currently in over 5,600 schools in 44 states.
  • AVID tutorials take place in small groups. AVID tutors assist the students achieve their full potential by facilitating collaborative tutorial groups. Tutors use Socratic questioning and collaborative learning techniques to help the students come up with the answers to their questions on their own and by working with fellow students.
  • The YMCA and TPS will train you to become an AVID Tutor.
  • AVID classes are held during the regular school day and are part of the student’s regular schedule.
 

Ballet Instructor

Job Type: Part-Time

To provide instruction for Ballet classes.

  • JOB SEGMENTS:

    • Be within the area of instructing and ready to teach prior to class start time.
    • Obtain class roster from Program Director prior to class start time. Responsible for taking attendance of class participants during the session.
    • Welcome each participant and their parents.
    • Plan and execute a fun, educational, creative class.
    • See that each class includes: Introduction, Review, Skill Development, Personal Growth, and Safety.
    • Keep the room neat and clean. Report any damaged equipment and recommendations to the Program Director. 
    • Do not turn children away if they are not on your class roster. Include them in your class and clear it up later with the Program Director.
    • Advise the Program Director if a student is unable to keep up with course curriculum, we may need to move them to a different program or look at alternative solutions.
    • Be consistent, courteous, and helpful and most of all …. Make sure that all of the kids have FUN!
    • Keep Program Director informed at all times of substitutes.
    • Weave YMCA core values and mission into class curriculum.
 

Bus Driver

Job Type: Part-Time

Under the direction of the Site Director and/or Assistant Director, the Bus Driver provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. May also provide support in other areas as assigned.

Accountabilities:

  1. Work as a team member with other staff.
  2. Communicate effectively with children, their parents, other YMCA/JCC staff, and center guest.
  3. Report any concerns to your supervisor.
  4. Respond to emergencies according to YMCA/JCC procedures.

Director - Annual Campaign

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading cause-driven nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Conceptualizes, organizes and implements a comprehensive strategic annual giving program. Requires significant time in the field, minimum desk time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Continuously improves and implements the YMCA of Greater Toledo’s annual campaign strategy in collaboration with executive and volunteer leadership.
  2. Works closely with Association leadership at every branch to ensure effective recruitment of volunteer leadership for overall annual campaign to execute an effective, comprehensive annual giving
  3. Develop strong supportive relationships with Information Technology, Branch Executives, Chief Operating Officer, grant writers (as it relates to annual grants), and Director of Marketing and Communications.
  4. Collaborates with Association and branch leadership to successfully execute association campaign communications and campaign strategies that support annual giving and a culture of philanthropy.
  5. Helps develop and support plans for identifying, cultivating and soliciting annual giving prospects and existing donors throughout the Association.
  6. Works with Association leadership to identify, recruit, and train branch volunteers in gift solicitation.
  7. Accountable for the monitoring of accurate development department office functions of billing, receipting, and accounting as related to donor gifts.
  8. Monitors the quality of data management of annual gifts and conducts regular analysis and reporting of annual giving
  9. Monitors systems for timely and appropriate acknowledgements of annual gifts and other prospect/donor correspondences.
  10. Develops print, web site, social media, and other messaging strategies in coordination with marketing department as it relates to Annual Giving.
  11. Gathers information needed for grant writers to submit Annual Foundation Requests.
  12. Manages special events, projects and committees as requested.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Fitness Coach

To ensure the safety of all participants and observers in the Fitness Center, while maintaining a clean and fun environment.  Attendant is responsible for the instruction, supervision and safety of all members utilizing the facility. 

Job Segments:

  1. Demonstrate the proper use of equipment to members.
  2. Assist members with workouts and workout planning.
  3. Provide fitness center orientations to new members.
  4. Supervise the fitness center for general safety of users.
  5. Enforce all branch policies relating to fitness area and equipment.
  6. Maintain proper operation of fitness equipment, and report any repair needs to Supervisor immediately.
  7. Keep the fitness center clean, comfortable and pleasant.
  8. Maintain the member workout log file.
  9. Clean windows, mirrors and machines on a regular basis.
  10. Demonstrate Responsibility, Respect, Caring & Honesty towards members, guests, co-workers, and supervisor at all times.
  11. Help keep the facility and grounds free of litter and safety hazards.
  12. Collect, launder and prepare towels for members as needed.
  13. Be available to monitor building as needed when leadership staff is not present in building.
  14. In an effort to keep employee injuries to a minimum, will encourage all staff to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner. In all incidences, proper equipment must be used for the task being performed.

KidZone Attendant

To ensure the safety of all swimmers and observers in the pool area, while maintaining a clean and fun environment.

Job Segments:

  1. Be on deck and ready to lifeguard on time.
  2. Ensure that all swimmers and divers follow pool rules and policies.
  3. Follow opening and closing procedures.
  4. Never read or do homework while someone is in the pool.
  5. Take chemical readings and record on chemical log sheet at specified times (see log sheet). These are state required records!
  6. Count the number of people in the pool and record on pool attendance form every ½ hour. These are important legal records!
  7. Find and secure your own substitute when needed, complete Sub Request Form, and turn in to your supervisor for approval.
  8. Check board daily in the guard office to keep up to date and informed of upcoming events.
  9. Demonstrate Responsibility, Respect, Caring & Honesty towards members, guests, co-workers, and supervisor at all times.
  10. Maintain a clean deck at all times.
  11. Maintain your physical ability to perform rescues. Attend all trainings and swim/record 500’s weekly
  12. Ensure storage room is kept clean and equipment is stored properly.
  13. Put in and take out lane and safety lines as needed (according to pool schedule) and store properly when not in use.
  14. Know the pool schedule so the pool can be set up appropriately.
  15. Read and understand evaluation criteria (attached and posted in guard office).
  16. Perform any unique duties requested, as deemed appropriate, by your supervisor.

SilverSneakers® Group Exercise Instructor

Job Type: Part-Time

To instruct a group exercise class according to the guidelines of the YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Instructor training.  Insure the safety of all participants during class. 

Job Segments:

  1. Insure the safety of all participants in class.
  2. Be at the YMCA, or designated work site, prior to class to prepare.
  3. Make sure all necessary equipment is out before class is scheduled to begin and return equipment to storage after class.
  4. Conduct class in accordance with standard conditioning principles according to designated program you have been assigned to teach.
  5. Be aware at all times to participant’s level of activity intensity, encouraging them to go at their own pace.
  6. Observe building policies, restrictions, and emergency procedures.
  7. Openly promote health enhancement programs offered at the YMCA.
  8. Keep accurate attendance records.
  9. Attend all fitness staff meetings and training sessions when deemed necessary by your supervisor.
  10. Be dressed in appropriate attire when while teaching class.
  11. Keep supervisor informed of any equipment that needs fixed or replaced.
  12. Notify supervisor and customer service desk of any injuries or emergencies. Incident/Accident reports must be completed and turned in for any incidents.

Welcome Specialist

The Welcome Specialist in accordance with Association policies is responsible for member satisfaction and retention through impeccable member service and practices that promote engagement. The Welcome Specialist will possess extensive knowledge in member and membership processes, as well as knowledge in Wellness and Group Exercise classes.

SUPERVISOR:

Membership Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meet and exceed membership satisfaction and retention goals as part of the membership team.
  2. Ensure daily member questions and requests are handled in efficient and timely manner.
  3. Work closely with Membership Director and service staff to ensure membership paperwork is obtained and processed accurately to meet the organization’s goal.
  4. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal and financial data for each member.
  5. Maintain a filing system that meets the organization standards.
  6. Monitor and enforce membership policies and procedures.
  7. Assist in selling memberships and programs by proactively engaging in conversations on the benefits of Y Cause, memberships and programs.
  8. Serve as the direct supervisor of the Member Service team at the branch. Develop member service schedules to include all branch Member Service Associates.
  9. Schedule and Facilitate
  10. Model the Y character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through your actions and conversations with members.
  11. Engage in active listening with potential members to develop sustainable relationships, determine individual goals and interests.
  12. Greet, interview and tour future members.
  13. Create outbound calls and emails to generate future members to tour center.
  14. Assist in following up on membership inquiries.
  15. Understand and fully participate in the Y-Improvement model for his/her branch as well as any assigned Association initiatives. Will ensure data within the Y-Improvement model is accurate and up to date. Will be accountable for meeting or exceeding target conditions related to his/her areas of responsibility.
  16. Responsible for tracking and reporting on all membership tours.
  17. Responsible for follow up of all tours that don’t join within specified time.
  18. Facilitate and/or schedule all new members for their Fit 101 appointment.
  19. Create process and tracking system to connect members to programs and services.
  20. Promote membership offers to all non-member program participants.
  21. Track and provide sales, terminations and Fit 101 enrollment updates monthly to supervisor.
  22. Coordinate member appreciation and recognition events and programs.
  23. Actively participate in the Annual Campaign by helping to raise dollars toward the branch goal.
  24. Respond to emergency situations by adhering to the Emergency Action Plan.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.
