YMCA Names New Sylvania Branch to Recognize Mike and Karen Fischer

Toledo, Ohio — October 28, 2026 — The YMCA of Greater Toledo is proud to announce that its newest Sylvania location will be named The Fischer Family YMCA, Sylvania, recognizing longtime members and supporters Mike and Karen Fischer for their generous support to the organization. The new 53,000-square-foot facility will expand access to wellness, recreation, youth programs and community connection, with opening targeted for early 2027.

TPS Schools Foundation Partners with Local Organizations to Provide Essential Funding for Youth Swim Safety Program

Oregon, OH –January 17, 2025 – The Eastern Community YMCA, in collaboration with Toledo Public Schools (TPS) Foundation and several community partners, is proud to announce an impactful initiative to bring swim safety education to six (6) TPS elementary schools. This program aims to equip children with essential water safety skills, thanks to the generosity and support of local organizations.

Walk/Bike to School Day Activities Encourages Safer Routes for Biking and Walking in School Neighborhoods

The Toledo Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program, of Live Well Greater Toledo and the YMCA along with their partners including the Toledo Public School District (TPS), the City of Toledo Transportation Dept., Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and numerous other participating organizations will join students and families from Garfield Elementary, 1103 N. Ravine Pkwy., Toledo, OH 43605 on May 08, 2024 to raise the awareness of the need for safer routes for bicycling and walking to school.
