Francis Family and West Toledo YMCA Stingrays Swim Team

Team members must have a current YMCA Family, Grandparent or 2 person membership.

Minimum Requirements:

Swimmer knows freestyle and backstroke and can swim 50 yards (2 lengths) of each stroke.

Swimmers will be learning to swim Breaststroke and Butterfly, the four competitive strokes, as well as flip turns.  In this group swimmers will be learning to swim each stroke legally and efficiently in swim meets.

Minimum Requirements:

Swimmer is proficient in all strokes and events.  Working on improving all areas of swimming with fine detail while developing core strength, endurance and speed.

Swimmers in this group are working to reach their personal potential  and personal goals.  These goals can include making state cuts, zone cuts, national times, college scholarships, etc.)  Goals and training programs are developed to accommodate swimmers.   Upper level competitions are encouraged for these swimmers.

Minimum Requirement: Swimmers can swim 100 Freestyle, is proficient in Backstroke, can swim a 50 Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke and 100 Individual Medley.

Swimmers will use training methods to improve their fitness level, stroke technique, as well as learning race strategies.  This groups makes a shift  towards a higher level of training in swimming.

Swimmer will participate on the Francis Family & West Toledo Stingrays Swim Team starting at the beginning of the Junior High School Season but will finish the Stingrays Season with the team and swim in any of the Stingrays meets, invitationals and championship swim meet – November – March.

This introductory group is for swimmers who are just beginning the sport of swimming.  The swimmer will be working on the mastery of freestyle and backstroke.  They will be introduced to rotary breathing, butterfly and breaststroke.

Swimmers will be introduced to basic training for swimming.   Emphasis will be on proper stroke technique, stroke refinement, use of  the pace clock, and other skills as the group progresses.)
